讲座提要：This talk is mainly to raise intercultural awareness when we use the English language. I will use examples to show how communication breakdown can occur due to cultural differences although the two cultures are more common than different. I will also use metaphors to demonstrate the similarities and differences between the Chinese and English languages and cultures. Through the comparison and contrast, hopefully the competence and skills in using English are to be enhanced.
【信息链接】姜文英，澳大利亚昆士兰大学中文部主任，应用语言学博士。曾任教于加拿大阿尔伯塔大学及澳洲的西澳大利亚大学。主要研究领域为第二语言习得、二语教学法及中英跨文化交际研究。 2009年出版学术专著Acquisition of Word Order in Chinese as a Foreign Language by MOUTON DE GRUYTER (《汉语作为外语的词序习得研究》)；在国际核心期刊发表学术论文20余篇，代表作为Measurements of development in L2 written production: The case of Chinese L2. Applied Linguistics, Vol. 34 (1), 1-24. 此外，还担任学术期刊 Applied Linguistics, International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism 及Journal of Language, Culture and Curriculum 审稿人。
